I have been cautioned against taking a line of credit to pay off high interest credit card balances. Instead, I have been encouraged to keep using the 0% interest credit card offers for as long as it is offered at zero %. These cards are a dime of dozen these days.

As with anything in life, it is what you don’t know that hurts you. If I embark in doing the card hopping strategy, I don’t know what the long term consequences are in using these 0% offers. So, I kindly ask you the following questions:

1. Will it hurt my credit rating? Right now I have a very good credit score. I pay all my bills on time. It is the finance charges that are killing me.

2. Should I close the expiring 0% card as I open the new 0% card. At the end of 5 years I don’t want to have a trail of credit cards that are still open balance. Or should I?

I have 4 credit cards with approx. $25,000.00 worth of debt on them. I would like to get ahold of a non-profit debt counseling service in order to get rid of the high interest rates and pay them off alot sooner instead of only paying the interest and the over the limit fees. I have not used these cards for the past 5-6 years and the accounts are closed except for me making payments on them. I am not even touching the actual principal that I owe, although, I have probably paid enough on these cards to have actually paid off the actual principal. How is the best way to do this and what are some reputalbe non-profit agencies that will help achieve this? I have also heard that some credit cards will take a settlement on some accounts. Is this a good idea and how much of the amount owed do they usually want? I realize that this may hurt my credit rating but to be honest with you it isn’t worth squat now, so what is the difference? Does the debt consolidation hurt your credit as well?

I don’t see a link on the website and I want to put my 3 other cards on my target visa to save some money. I go to the other cards sites and they don’t have options to pay with credit card, only bank info. Why can’t you pay credit card bills with another credit card? I can’t seem to find out any info on how to do that. Thank you.

I heard having too many credit cards can lower your FICO score even if you pay them full each month. How many can you get before they drop your score?

I had problem getting a credit card when I had no credit history and then after I finally got one, I had difficult time getting another one, because banks said I had too few revolving accounts. Now I have 5 credit cards and only 1 of them carry balance. My balance to credit ratio is 6% and my FICO score is 740.

I want to advertise a product via the internet, for the international market. It can be bought only by a Credit Card.

Therefore I would like to know, per each country in the world, how many Credit Cards are there, or: How many Credit Cards per resident in each country?

I am going out of the United States this upcoming summer for 3 months and would like to have a credit card on me that I will be able to use in Europe without being hit with transaction fees. Does anyone know of a credit card company that issues cards without charging an exponential amount of interest or transaction fees?

How many credit cards should a person have?

Kat asked:

I know having too many is not good for a person’s credit score and looks bad to those checking this credit. But not having any credit (such as cards) is not good either. So is it best to have more than one card?

Tim asked:

I have only have one revolving credit card, and I have a very high credit score. Because of this overall score they subsequently increase my credit line, even though I don’t ask for or use this revolving line of credit. Question? I have been told if you ask for a credit line decrease they lower your overall credit score? Why? What can you do to minimize a lowered credit score?
