My husband and I are buying a car jointly, but we don’t have great credit because we recently purchased a house and various things that made our credit take some big hits. Is there a particular score that they look for when you buy a car?

Isendar asked:

About 8 months ago, I applied for a credit card. I use it religiously about 3-5 times a month (usually about $20/month) so that I can raise my credit rating. I currently have Capital One so the APR is quite high (Mine’s at 21.50% right now). I had 2 mishaps where I was unable to pay the $10 minimum payment. I owed over $400 (My credit limit) and now I just payed $100 of it. I’ll be done paying it off by the end of this month. My question is: How can I A: repair the damage i’ve done to my credit and B: go about raising my rating?. I inquired with the 3 leading credit rating companies (Equifax and others) as to my credit rating and they all state that my credit rating was inconclusive. Does this have to do with the fact that I just established my credit 8 months ago or the fact that this year is the first year i’ll be filing taxes with the IRS? I’m really clueless when it comes to credit and so are my parents. Any info would be great!

Mark R asked:

I have a credit card with a credit limit of $12,500. I have not only been making the payments each month, but I have been paying off my monthly balance at the end of each month consistently. My father told me that, given the situation of today’s financial market, the bank can decide to lower my limit. Is this possible? Is this likely? If so, what factors would influence their decision to lower my credit limit?

I did my research and I realized that i have a good credit report standing.

I only have 2 accounts that I am currently using.
Out of those two, for one I do have a balance but I always pay my bills on time except for two times when i was late because, the credit card company gave me the wrong due dates
They did remove the late fees however.
But 7 open in total.
5 unused
Two of them are sallie mae for school
and the other
1 for victorias secret- never used it. If I do use it I pay it once the bill comes
and the other two i dont plan on using.

Does that mean I have a bad credit score?

Rachel

My company is closing here in California next May and I will be relocating to Austin in either mid-Aprl or May 1st of next year. I have been with my company for 23 years and am looking for a 4-6 month rental until I purchase a home. My current credit score is fair-good due in part to a divorce a couple of years back. As I have never rented an apartment before, always a home, I am not familiar with the credit requirements, I have heard they are very stringent. If I would not qualify, any advice you might have to offer would be greatly appreciated.

I have a credit card that has 26% interest on it. I have recently lost my job and can only afford the minimum payments. But as you can see with 26% interest it never goes down. I need to find a credit card that has like 0% interest on rollovers that I can trust not to **** me after 6 months.

How do I add information to my credit file?

carriezmail@sbcglobal.net asked:

I want to request some non traditional credit information be added to my credit file? I have two orthodontic contracts totalling over $10,000.00 and have been making payments on them for the last two years. I want this to show on my credit file because I need to increase my positive credit accounts. How do I do this?

I am just over 30 days deliquent with my credit cards and want to settle them to pay off. No one will even consider it. I have a way to get money to pay them all off, but only if they can accept a lesser amount. What are my options besides bankruptcy or consumer credit counseling.

I’m wanting to establish good credit but I don’t know where to start. I don’t want high interest and I know if you don’t have credit history, your credit is bad. Please tell me which credit card I should get. Thanks.

$Question asked:

I filed for bankruptcy a few weeks ago but am now thinking of cancelling. From what I understand, once you have filed it is on your record, but what I want to know is that if I was to cancel the process, how does it show on my credit? Will appear as cancelled or will it just show that I did file for bankruptcy?
